Youth correctional facilities

These six state-run youth development centers and forestry camps take some of the most chronic or violent juvenile offenders. Each juvenile's crime, behavior and progress affect how long they stay in the facilities. The average length of stay from 2007 through 2013 was between seven and eight months. The number of beds and juveniles sent to the facilities fell over the time studied.
